The problem
A language school was distributing paid course videos by hand. Once a file was sent, there was nothing stopping a student from re-sharing it, and every new enrolment meant more manual admin for staff.
What I did
- Built a learning management system with courses, lessons and enrolment
- Moved video delivery to S3-compatible storage with time-limited, access-restricted URLs so links can't be freely re-shared
- Gave staff a custom admin panel to publish content and manage students themselves
- Added access controls so each student only reaches what they've paid for
The outcome
The school runs its course catalogue itself, without developer involvement for day-to-day publishing, and paid video content is no longer trivially shareable.
