The problem
Tracking whether a specific section of a webpage had changed meant a person opening the page, reading it, and remembering what it said yesterday. Slow, easy to forget, and changes were noticed late.
What I did
- Built a scraping engine that captures a chosen region of a page on a schedule
- Stored snapshots and diffed each run against the previous one
- Ran the whole thing on Celery background workers so checks continue without anyone logged in
- Sent email alerts the moment a watched section actually changed
The outcome
Page monitoring became continuous and hands-off. Changes surface as alerts instead of being discovered on the next manual check.

Data automation & web scraping
If someone on your team checks a website, copies numbers into a spreadsheet, or re-runs the same report every morning, that job can be done by a script that never forgets and never takes a day off.
